Chapter 13

- Charles -

I was kissing Jamie.

Not just kissing him, but kissing him—my tongue down his throat, his hands drifting all over my body, my hands all over his. He tasted like mint, from chapstick probably; a little part of my mind wondered if Jamie could taste my own cinnamon chapstick, which I’d happened to put on just before he knocked on my door. Then his hands moved down to my ass and he pulled me roughly against him and I didn’t really think about anything anymore except how it felt to have him touch me at last.

Far sooner than I would have liked I had to turn my head away so I could gasp for breath, though Jamie didn’t slow. His lips and tongue moved over every inch of skin he could get to, kissing along my jaw, nibbling at my neck. Only my unintentional whimper when Jamie started sucking on my earlobe made him stop, and it was just so he could pull his head back a little bit and chuckle in amusement.

Shit, shit, shit.

I should never have opened the door. I’d spent all week going out of my way to avoid him while I tried my damnedest to stomp out every little butterfly in my stomach whenever I thought about him, because I knew if I didn’t then things would go too far. And it had taken all of five minutes for precisely that to happen once Jamie had walked in.

And it’s not like I could blame him, because I’d kissed him.

Now that I’d started it, I didn’t intend to stop.

I mercilessly squelched the little voice inside my head that warned me this was a stupid idea, because I didn’t want to hear it. With Jamie looking at me like that, I wanted to be stupid.

“Still want me to leave?” Jamie asked teasingly.

I scowled at him, though it was hard to maintain the expression when he squeezed my ass. His hands had slid around a bit while we were making out, but they always seemed to return to my ass, kneading and squeezing the flesh like it belonged to him.

Fine by me.

Jamie chuckled. “Yeah, that’s what I thought.”

“You’re impossible,” I grumbled, earning another laugh.

“And you like it,” Jamie murmured, nuzzling my neck with his nose.

Unwilling to agree out loud, I tilted my head back and to the side to give him better access to the soft skin of my neck, groaning in pleasure when Jamie latched onto a spot and gently started sucking.

“You’re just trying to buy me with presents,” I complained, eyes fluttering closed. God, despite the way heat was starting to pool in my groin, I was surprisingly unwilling to speed things along. I liked being held like this, savoring the way I felt like I was melting under his touch even though we’d barely gotten started.

“What?” Jamie pulled back, dismay ringing in his voice. Only when he saw the small smile on my lips did he relax, tsking.

“So you agree that it was a date, then,” he said after a moment, the most charming of all charming smiles on his face.
